James Gilleard

    Based in Matsumoto, Japan, James Gilleard is an animator and illustrator who has been in the industry for over 10 years. He makes textured digital artworks that are used for various other mediums, such as: posters, magazines, animations, and books. The main influences of his works come from the 1950s through 1970s animation, films, comics, and media from those time frames. They use pastel vintage inspired palettes of color and he mainly creates soothing worlds to go with them. They range from landscapes to snapshot of moving animals and nature.



His works have a bit of a surreal nostalgic feeling to them. They are mostly like looking right into a cartoon. He does various advertisements and conceptual art for television and film. This includes companies like Blue Sky Studios, Disney, Dreamworks, Netflix, and others.
