Project 5&6_TaylorClarke
I began cutting out my edited sections of my Elephant sculpture photo. Some of the cut-outs were printed in their original orientation and others were printed in a flipped/mirrored orientation. This is so that I can begin the process of making them all 3-dimensional for my collage and for them to be able to stand up on their own. Next in my process of making the collage, I should have my background picked out and began the process of applying the background to the collage. My goal is to have nature be the theme of the picture so the background will have a lot to do with nature. The theme also ties in with the elephant sculpture because elephants are a part of nature.

Process:
In the beginning of the project, the first thing that I did, and what my fellow peers also did, was take pictures. My main goal was to capture the nature around me and then I stumbled upon this elephant sculpture that piqued my interest. So I took a picture of that as well. To edit my photos, I used the program AdobeLightroom to edit the properties of the picture and to change up/enhance the photos to my liking. Once all of my chosen pictures were edited, I went into AdobePhotoshop to begin to play around with the pictures and enhance them further. For the elephant sculpture photo, I knew I wanted to change up the elephant and make it the main attraction, so I used the ellipse tool and made a couple circles on top of the elephant. I then made the circles see through by changing the blending options on them and then giving them some color. After this, I printed out the picture four times and then folded them all up so that it was 3-dimensional. Once that was finished, I began to piece together the mirror that would go behind the 3-d picture. I found a rights-free image of an antique mirror online and then went to work. I printed it, cut it out, traced it, and then hollowed it out. After that, I printed out more of my flower pictures that I had taken and edited, cut them out in the layout that I wanted and then placed them as shown. I then choose a sky blue backdrop to represent the sky and also the ocean.
Idea:
The main idea of my collage is nature, which is a running theme throughout it. The goal was to show what you can find amidst nature and the man made things that are around too. It's why the elephant sculpture part is enhanced and the antique mirror is there. Both are man-made things that you could find in nature, one would probably have been thrown out as junk and the other would have been found intentionally placed. Nonetheless, these are things that you can find in the outside world in nature.
