Project 5+6_ElizabethMendez

 Child at Heart, Elizabeth Mendez

I started by taking pictures of trees in different lighting and angles. At first, I wasn't sure what to do with the photos. I wanted to make a dreamy, ethereal, fairy-themed collage. It didn't turn out that way completely. Instead, I photoshopped one picture. I cropped a bridge, cleaned the edges, and placed it in a spot I thought would fit nicely. I added a fairy and butterflies with the same process (crop, clean edges, place). Next, I looked through the web to find a rainbow image. Once I found one I liked, I placed it near the corner and lowered the capacity, and blurred it so it could be faint. I searched through mirror images for one I liked and stumbled upon a pink heart mirror image. I placed my image over this pink heart image and cleaned the edges to fit inside the mirror. As if you're looking into a different world. I slightly blurred the vision in the mirror and sharpened it a little. My next project was the white roses. I cropped a bunch of white roses together. Some of the roses turned out pinkish and dark due to the printer. The roses are formed as a circle to represent a person's head. Underneath, I cut a variety of green paint samples into hearts. The hearts assembled into a person's body. The background is a collage of different blue items I found on the web. I took apart cotton balls and then glued some down to act as clouds. The mirror heart image is then glued to where a human's heart would be. Everything has been glued down on two white pieces of paper, making it a little smaller than 24x18.

The idea is being a child at heart. In the mirror, you can see a child's fantasy world. As in like, to imagine mythical creatures and enjoy living in that world. The outside of the heart are things related to a child. The white roses represent purity and innocence. The whole picture combined is a portrait of a child outside under a blue sky with a few clouds.

(I don't have any pictures of my process because I did not save it on photoshop)
