1. On the first step, I uploaded my photo of wood and moss of a tree.
2. I then made that image a smart object, and searched for filters and chose the Cut Out Filter.
3. I did this same thing from step 2 for the background of the bricks.
4. I did the same step as the previous two steps for the flowers in the composition.
Here is the final composition. As you can see I used a magic eraser tool to get rid of the hard edges of the bark and moss against the background of the brick wall.
Nature's Simplicity, Ethan Mietzner
Digital Foundations Professor Kim
Process: This is my final rendition of project 6. I first began the project by branching off of a photoshopped piece of bark with overlapping flowers which I printed out and placed on the composition. I then went outside the classroom to gather some leaves from off the ground. I then used the scanner to scan a few dozen leaves in total which I then photoshopped using a filter called “cutout” that simplified their colors, shape, and the details of each individual leaf. I finally printed the leaves out and hand cut them to fit them onto my composition with the printed bark and flowers as the focal point.
Idea: As I worked with my composition, I began to think that this piece is about "Nature simplified." Nature simplified indicates the idea that the photoshopped leaves have gotten rid of the tiny details of each leaf and has left each leaf with a more simplified color, shape, and less overall details. In the center is a simplified flower with two others to the right and left above it. The simplicity is noticed as well in the top right of the composition of the berries and leaves which are almost one color and therefore helps us focus on the overall shape of the leaves rather than the intricate details of each leaf grabbing our attention as we see in nature.
