Project 7 and 8_SethPrior

                                                            Stringy Melting Mountain

Project 7 started off with finding the picture of Machu Picchu cutting the top and erasing the rest that remained then using the blur tool and spot healing brush to fill in the area where the top of the mountain was previously. I found an image of dirt with a worm crawling out and used that on the top and side of the mountain to fill the previous void. I then used the blur tool, brush tool, and color picker, to make strands of the mountains that look stringy like when you pull a piece of pizza from the pie. I added shadows under the worm using the brush tool on a separate layer then lowering the opacity to a point where it looked like a shadow. I then found a hand that is pinching the mountain top, put shadows beneath it using the same method I used previously and used quite frequently throughout this piece. I found a picture of the New York skyline and grab different buildings making my own skyline to add to the dream affect, it's something you recognize but they're all out of order. I used a smoke png to make it look more fluid behind the mountain and put shadows using the same method if I wanted a building to look like it was in front of another. I then found the helicopter, cut it using the magic lasso tool, erased extra bits the tool didn't get and pasted it into my work, I then used the lasso tool to do the same thing I already had done with the mountain top, making strands, shadows, and adding dirt. I then drew 4 lines from the heli to dirt clump and tilted the heli making it look like it was having a hard time pulling it up. When I finished that I added a few more buildings one of them being the Empire State building and then I was done.

This piece only took me about an hour in total and it was a great learning experience. I first found a picture of someone looking out of a plane and erased the part where the light came through the window because the magic wand tool didn't allow for me to get rid of the white in the center without also loosing a large part of the window. I found an image of fish in the open ocean and put it on a separate layer behind the first image. After that I messed around with the hues of the original image of the man in the seat in order to not have to do too much work later on. I then color picked some blue from the fish image and colored the spots where I saw white light on the man in oder to change the atmospheric lighting the mans face, shirt, hair, and the inside of the window. I then went into the filter settings, found the "tilted blur" filter and change some of the settings around to blur out parts of his hair and forehead I wasn't a fan of and to give a more dreamy look of confusion and sleepiness, it's as if you just woke up from a nap, haven't fully opened your eyes yet and see this man looking out his plane window at fish.
